It might be worth buying a few to use exclusively for MV.

The main thing is that these images are shot wider. This means we need to consider what is in the background and surrounding the plate. It would give us plenty of space to work with if we had a large table with a white tablecloth. If we had a small t

It would give us plenty of space to work with if we had a large table with a white tablecloth. If we had a small table with a 900mm x 600mm background then we'd see the edges which wouldn't look good.

Props

I like the idea of using props. We need to make the food the focal point so any props should be kept quite light as in this image. I also really like the wine glass in the hero image you supplied as it doesn't draw your eye away from the food.

From a propping point of view, this image doesn't work quite so well, as too many distractions draw my eye away from the food.

Lighting example

You may need to use your imagination with these images as there aren’t any props, and I guess the angles are quite standard. However, they will hopefully show you how the food is the hero and how the lighting and a plain background will look. Just for info, these were shot last week at the QEII Centre in Westminster.
