Photography at the Nottingham Contemporary.

The Mighty Creatives are a Leicester based charity and this was my second shoot for them. They are providing access for children and young people to art, culture and creativity. It is their belief that by doing this, they are significantly, positively impacting on those childrens’ developments for the better.

Today’s event was for Artsmark which is the creative standard for schools backed by the Arts Council England. Schools earn the Artsmark accreditation if they reach certain criteria in creative subjects. This event was hosted at the Nottingham Contemporary (which is an international arts centre) and included a lunch, networking, discussions, speeches and team building drumming activity (which was amazing!).

The drumming activity split the delegates into small groups. Each group was allocated a certain type of percussion instrument ranging from a small cow bell to a large drum. Each group had to learn a sequence and then everyone played together and made the most accomplished sound. It sounded like they had been playing for years together instead of just ten minutes.

There wasn’t any natural light in the event space which made things challenging but I tried to supply a selection of images which included flash on and flash off. See what you think!
